APPLICATIONS

DTM CREATIONS (DIGITAL TERRAIN MODELS)

Thanks to DTM and point clouds, you can create 3D models of a piece of land or any other surface or object such as buildings, airplanes, bridges, dams and any engineering work. One of the advantages of photogrammetry with Drones is that data can be acquired in areas of very difficult access which until now and with traditional methods were almost impossible to achieve.

These are 2D representations of terrain morphology, widely used in site monitoring, architecture, engineering, plot sizing, environmental studies and volume calculations.

Flight planning

The first step is to establish a flight plan and obtaining all necessary permits. Afterwards, a study will be carried out, depending on the resolution desired by the client and the location and orography of the plot of land.

During this phase, the optimal parameters will be determined according to the client’s needs in terms of percentage coverage between the photos, distance between flight lines, flight height, flight speed, shooting interval between frames, etc..

Aerial data acquisition

In case this is required by the client (generally, for monitoring works, sub-centimetre precision topographic plans),

control points are placed and their measurement by very high precision GPS (RTK or PPP) in the field for the correct georeferencing of the final product. The flight will be carried out according to the planning and simultaneously with the topographic study of control points.

Report delivery

Using different software, image alignment, geo-referencing, point cloud creation, and digital terrain models, orthophoto mosaic, and three-dimensional modelling are performed.

Finally, the data can be exported in any format requested by the client, for both GIS and CAD environments.
